Development That Works
The Nucleus Foundation is a not-for-profit social enterprise working in development throughout Sri Lanka and in Asia. The Foundation was set up as the exit strategy of two longstanding German Development Cooperation (GTZ) projects under a Memorandum of Understanding with the former Ministry of Nation building and Estate Infrastructure Development and has been in operation since 2007.

Who We Are
Nucleus Foundation is a non-profit social enterprise working in international development in Sri Lanka and the region. It was set up as the exit strategy of two longstanding German Development Cooperation (GTZ) projects under a MoU with the former Ministry of Nation building and Estate Infrastructure Development and has been in operation since 2007.
Nucleus Services is the consultancy arm of the Foundation and has been implementing M & E, research, training and reporting assignments since 2013.

We implement projects, conduct training programs and implement M & E and research assignments in over 45 sectors, for a range of clients including government agencies, international donors, INGOs, NGOs, banks and private sector entities.
We champion the Nucleus Approach for MSME development internationally – as a viable tool to achieve holistic development of MSMEs, at scale.

Our Methodology
The Nucleus Approach
A Nucleus is a working group of entrepreneurs, in the same sector, guided and facilitated by a trained Nucleus Counsellor, who come together to identify and prioritise the challenges and opportunities they face, and implement practical actions to address them.
Nucleus Foundation provides end-to-end solutions for the deployment of the Nucleus Approach in business membership organisations, sectors, departments, across value chains or in geographies.
